Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
Accelerated Resolution Therapy: A Powerful Path to Healing
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is an evidence-based approach designed to help individuals experience rapid relief from trauma, anxiety, depression, phobias, and more.
ART is a form of psychotherapy that uses a combination of techniques, including guided eye movements and imagery rescripting, to help clients process and resolve distressing memories in a way that is both efficient and non-invasive. Once the negative images have been replaced, the triggers that are causing nightmares, intrusive thoughts, and negative feelings will stop.
ART often resolves a single presenting problem in a one to three session model. This makes ART a valuable option for those seeking faster symptom relief without having to retell their trauma in detail. In addition, clients may wish to use traditional talk sessions to process the changes and insights they have gleaned from ART’s eye movement sessions.
One of the most empowering aspects of ART is that it allows you to take control of how your mind stores distressing experiences. By changing how the brain associates and reacts to painful memories, clients often walk away feeling lighter, more grounded, and emotionally free.
Whether you’re struggling with past trauma, chronic stress, or simply feel stuck in emotional patterns that no longer serve you, ART may be an effective solution.
FAQ’s
What does ART treat?
ART was initially designed to address traumatic experiences and through utilization has been found to be effective with numerous additional challenges. ART has been shown to be effective with anxiety, depression, phobias, panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), substance use/addictions, performance anxiety, family issues, victimization, relationship issues, codependency, grief, job stress, pain management, memory enhancement, and dyslexia anxiety.
How long does it take?
ART typically resolves presenting problems in 1-3 sessions with each session taking approximately 50-60 minutes. Clients usually utilize a mix of traditional talk therapy sessions to assist in enhancing progress and solidifying changes. It is recommended these sessions are held consistently, ideally every 1-2 weeks. If this does not work for your schedule, talk with your provider about other options.
Will my insurance cover it?
There is no additional cost for ART therapy. It is typically covered as any other form of therapeutic treatment under your insurance. See your specific insurance carrier and plan for details about your coverage.
What does a typical ART session look like?
A typical ART session begins with a brief discussion to identify the issue you’d like to focus on—this could be a distressing memory, emotion, or physical sensation. From there, you’ll be guided through a series of eye movements while you visualize aspects of the experience. You won’t need to go into detail verbally; instead, you’ll do most of the work internally, with support and direction throughout. The process helps your brain shift how the memory is stored, so that it no longer carries the same emotional charge.
How will I know if ART is right for me?
