    Bekah Gernander

    Mental Health Counseling Intern

    Bekah is a second-year student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at the University of Iowa. She is completing her practicum and internship at MWR Counseling, under the supervision of Megan Rose, in preparation for becoming a temporary licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Iowa. Bekah graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, MN. She is currently a student member of the American Counseling Association.

    Bekah is training to develop her skills in trauma-informed, strengths-based, and person-centered approaches to counseling. She utilizes and integrates techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, and motivational interviewing into her counseling practice.

    Bekah has experience working in the human service field with adolescents and adults. She is available to work with clients of all ages, who are seeking services for a variety of reasons, including those related to anxiety, depression, self-esteem, interpersonal issues, and trauma.
